JBM Joins EDGEŽ Innovation Network
ALEXANDRIA,
VA, November 13, 2009 – JBM announced today it has joined the EDGEŽ
Innovation Network, a collaborative, open-environment initiative
enabling industry and academia, with government input, to work together
to enhance the delivery cycle of new technologies and innovative
capabilities to warfighters and first responders.
Sponsored by General Dynamics C4 Systems, the EDGE provides subject
matter expertise, advanced product portfolios and equipment, facilities
and laboratories for developing and testing technologies, products and
systems that make end-users more mobile, connected and informed.
Andy Vonada, JBM Chief Operating Officer, said, “This is a very exciting
opportunity for JBM. We possess almost two decades of experience
working side-by-side with our nation’s forces – often in austere
locations, but always in direct support to their vital missions. We are
eager to enhance the EDGE team by bringing our extensive technical
expertise and years of deployed experience to make a tangible impact on
current and future requirements.”
The EDGE has already delivered technology innovations to the U.S. Army’s
Land Warrior program, and it is currently monitoring more than 20
projects intended to improve and enhance warfighter and first responder
capabilities.
Pete Palmer, EDGE Innovation Network director, said, “By aligning
technologies and innovations from EDGE members like JBM with requests
and feedback from warfighters, first responders, and other programs, we
can deliver new and relevant capabilities to users faster than typical
acquisition cycles currently allow.”
The first EDGE Innovation Center opened in December 2006. EDGE
Innovation Centers are currently operating in Scottsdale, Ariz.;
Leavenworth, Kan.; Orlando, Fla.; Taunton, Mass.; and Oakdale, United
Kingdom. There are currently over 100 EDGE members. Recent additions to
the EDGE membership include the University of California, Santa Barbara
campus; iRobot Corporation, Bedford, Md.; Aspen Systems, Inc.,
Marlborough, Mass.; Viecore Federal Systems Division, Eatontown, N.J.;
and Florida State University, Tallahassee, Fla.
