JBM to Provide Engineering Support to GSE
ALEXANDRIA,
VA, May 1, 2009 – The U.S. Army has placed heavy emphasis on situational
awareness for its units presently serving worldwide. In an effort to
provide tools to help realize this objective, the TACOM Contracting
Center held a competition for the Ground Soldier Ensemble (GSE) to
develop a system that provides dismounted Soldiers increased situational
awareness, decreased reaction times, and reduced risk of fratricide. The
intent is to focus on providing mature technologies, that when
integrated together on the Soldier, minimizes the size, weight and power
impacts to the Soldier while providing network connectivity capabilities
at various echelon levels within an Infantry Brigade Combat Team (IBCT).
General Dynamics C4 Systems, Scottsdale, Arizona, was awarded one of the
three contracts for the GSE program.
Based on its years of operational experience on the Land Warrior
program, JBM was awarded a subcontract by General Dynamics C4 Systems to
provide technical field service engineering in support of the GSE
Technology Demonstration Development Phase (TDP). JBM will provided
program management and experienced systems engineers familiar with the
Land Warrior ensembles, Stryker Vehicle A and B kits, Advanced Mission
Data Support Equipment (AMDSE), as well as other operationally relevant
supporting systems and equipment. The subcontract has a one-year period
of performance, projected to begin in January 2010.
JBM has supported the Land Warrior program over the past three years, providing support to
4/2ID SBCT and 5/2ID SBCT fielding the systems at Fort Lewis, WA, and
accompanied units during their operational deployments to Iraq.
JBM’s vast knowledge of the Stryker concept and Army Battle Command
products has given Land Warrior-equipped soldiers an unparallelled
capability never seen on the battlefield, allowing soldier Situational
Awareness and Communications to be transferred to their higher level of
commands.
“The Land Warrior system has proven it is combat multiplier and GSE will
only increase the Army’s C2 and SA capabilities” , said Roy Harris,
JBM’s PM for Land Warrior and GSE effort.
